To a New Year!! C'mon 2012!!

C'MON 2012 please oh please be good to me!!

So far it has been a pretty shitty 2012 I spent most of New Years Eve drinking warm tea and sucking on cough drops as well as a fever. Ever since I've been battling awful and terrible cold that simply does not want to let be enjoy my time here in Southern California!! Aughhh!!

Regardless of my shitty start to 2012 I did manage to have some fun at the end of 2011. I recently took a trip with a friend to the Getty Museum and I forgot what a breathtaking view of Los Angeles the museum has. Since I was wearing quite a cute outfit I decided to snap a few pictures of the amazing view as well as a few picture of me acting goofy and silly at the Getty.

It's been hard days night

And I've been Workin' like a dog.....

Never have these lyrics resonated so well as they have this summer! I decided to take a little hiatus from the big city life of San Francisco and I decided to go back to home to Anaheim and spend some quality time with my family for the summer. I've been working at the nursing home as an activity assistant this summer. Only this time around I have a tremendous amount of responsibility and paperwork to do seeing as how one of my co-workers was moved to another area of the facility. The following photos were taken after a 8hr work day so if they seen a bit silly it's because I was so happy to be out of work! (Also because I was probably on a sugar high from all the root beer float socials we've been having!)

The best part about being back home is that I do not have to pack very many clothes because I still have so many back home. The two dresses in the photographs were bought at Jet Rag quite a while ago but I just never got around to wearing them because I either forgot I had them since they were hidden in the back of closet.

I almost forgot! I had the chance of visiting my great-aunt (my paternal grandmother's sister) and not only did she give me some amazing vintage presents such as a lovely bracelet and amazing gold pursue we also had a chance to go thrifting which is where I picked up my vintage leather travel bag which I am using as a work bag this summer! I'll be posting picture of my lovely gifts later!

Enjoy!

A Long Enough Break

WOAH!!

That was a LONG TIME!!

Every week I tell myself "okay you are gonna take outfit pictures and make time to post something". From spring break to mid May my life was pretty hectic!!! I was reading and writing non-stop trying successfully complete my last semester of graduate school. Guess what?? I DID!! (All A's!)

After I finished the semester I decided to spent these last few weeks watching movies on Netflix and on TCM. I've also had the opportunity to actually explore the city and do a little shopping especially the Memorial Day sales!

Which brings us to this week, I've been packing up my room and getting ready to move out! Also, I will be house sitting this week and having a small get together with some of my awesome cohort buddies and some good friends. Next week, Ill be heading down to Southern California and I hope to hang out with the lovely Beatrice (of Dear Beatrice) and doing some well deserved thrifting with some of my awesome friends! I'm also excited to see my family and have some good home cooking!!

So the first set of pictures were taken in the mission last month and the second set of pictures were taken yesterday by my boyfriend's new apartment.

YES YES YES!! SPRING BREAK IS HERE!!!

Too bad it doesn't really feel like Spring here in San Francisco!

Despite the gloomy weather I have still managed to pull off some pretty cute outfits. This past week ended with a facilitation in one of my classes.

On the other hand my spring break started with a wonderful little shopping spree buying some vintage lace up boots (online), a vintage red cashmere cardigan, a small vintage Coach purse, AND TLC'S FANMAIL CD!!! Followed by a day of touristy site seeing and gift shopping around the city. Leading to a small photo shoot at the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina in San Francisco.

I hope you all enjoy the pictures!

*I forgot my camera while site seeing so I had to make due with my ipod touch Camera. All pictures were taken with Hipstamatic*

SPRING BREAK...WHEN WILL YOU COME??

As I sit in my room swamped with reading and work that I have to I'm anxiously waiting for my Spring Break where not only will I go back home and get my "Thrift-ON" with various fashionable and very lovely friends but I also can't wait to get home and hangout with my family and just relax.

These last few weeks have been tremendously difficult and filled with tons of work. I attended an amazing conference a few weeks ago in University of California Riverside and was able to hear some amazing scholars which has really motivated me to continue with my education. Although the conference was intense I managed to take a few outfit pictures.

I also have a couple of pictures that are a little older but I love them because they showcase my amazing velvet coat with a fur trim that was given to me as a present.

I hope you are all having an amazing week.

GRAD SCHOOL GRAD SCHOOL GRAD SCHOOL!!

I think that this "Grad School" thing might just be the end of me (and this blog) I find myself utterly consumed with ideas about feminist theory, transnational feminist theory, queer theory, feminist pedagogy (OHH BOY)!

Well before school started I had the opportunity to get some amazing things at the thrift stores back home! I got a vintage nighty, an awesome 60's purse, a Vintage Maxi-Dress that I had altered, a couple sweaters, and finally a VINTAGE FUR COAT (a burgundy velvet coat with a fur trim collar with a silk lining). At Savers I bought a vintage black velvet dress. A week ago I got a purple dress, peach colored sweater, black pleated skirt, 90's studded business jacket and SEVERAL PIECES OF JEWELRY!!

For now I just wanted to share a couple of picture of the gorgeous 60's dress and purse!

ENJOY
